Meet the Founder

Youth Science Academy was founded by Shamekia M. Wade in response to the critical need of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our growing society. Shamekia is from a small town called Americus, GA whom holds a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Kennesaw State University. Shamekia is currently working on a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at Clark Atlanta University. Always having a yearning for science and helping others, Shamekia started Youth Science Academy, after completing a graduate research paper on science misconceptions amongst students of various ethnicities.

Shamekia’s insight is too insure that each and every child is exposed to the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life, by urging them to pursue their dreams, and impressing them with the joy that comes from a lifetime of learning. Her objectives while educating students is not to only be effective, but also fun and memorable. Students will be pushed beyond their own experience to expand their skills developing foundational leadership skills. Shamekia have accepted the challenge to change lives in the diverse fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics forever, creating a pipeline of innovators for the 21st century!
